SECRETARY'S REPORT
The Secretary's report for the meetings of 27 June and
25 July were accepted without change. Meeting
minutes are now posted on the web site: http://www.androscogginema.org
OLD BUSINESS
A. Committee Secretary reported there were no requests for community right-to-know information since the last meeting
B. Committee Secretary provided the SERC and SERC Training Reports there is no SERC meeting until September 16 so there is nothing to report; EMA Training Report nothing to report for this month; American Red Cross reported they are planning a Basic Level Disaster Course on Wednesdays, October 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29 and anyone who is interested should contact Eric Lynes at 795-4004 ext. 303; Jessica Smith also advised that Pioneer Plastics will be conducting a Live Burn Training program for industrial fire brigades and the date in September is to be announced
C. Financial Report: Funds received since last meeting: $4,810.05 for HSGP invoices (mini MERV equipment and contract planner salary) + earned interest of $66.22 for August for a total of $4,867.27; total LEPC expenditures $385,617.58; unencumbered balance $26,809.12 and encumbered balance $10,937.76; purchases made since last meeting none; purchases to recommend - none
D. Status of Homeland Security Grant 2007 - Where are we now?
Communications Interoperability Grant of $4.1 million for statewide no news likely until end of September
E. COBRA Team status: nothing to report since the last meeting; still planning on doing an exercise with Lewiston Fire Department and Bates College they will begin meeting in October and will exercise next year
F. IMAT Vehicle status: all communications equipment and computers have been installed; the two seats have been installed, the trailer and vehicle have been lettered, tent heater lights and generator are on board and final miscellaneous items have been purchased, positioned and secured on board; request for deployment are being developed as are user instructions; communications exercise was successfully conducted on Wednesday 8/27
G.
NEW BUSINESS
A. Early reminder for annual facility registrations due October 1 package of required forms the registration, inventory and TRI reporting has been included with these minutes for facilities with this requirement
B. There are a series of chemical reporting workshops info part of the aforementioned package
C. Status of County Hazmat Plan updates the LEPC Contract Planner has thoroughly reviewed and nearly completed revising the entire plan; he has worked with the EMA Deputy Director on developing new and improved Google Maps identifying facilities and their risk zones, etc , Peter will be here until September 23
OTHER BUSINESS
A. The Community Emergency Response Team
(CERT) / County Animal Rescue Team (CART) development is well underway; the
team meets the last Monday of each month at 5:30 PM (bring your sandwich and
EMA will provide beverage and dessert) and the next topics of discussion will
include budgeting and training
B. Steve Brezinski of Maine DEP advised the
group that a Tank Truck Rollover Training Program has been scheduled for
October 4 and 25 and a Clandestine Lab and the Terrorist has been scheduled for
September 9 and 10
C. The EMA / LEPC website has been updated
D. The committee asked that the meeting
minutes file that is sent electronically include the meetings month/year
